Wallis Lake House

A remote bushland setting with panoramic, north facing views over Wallis Lake is the setting for this rural retreat on the mid-north coast of NSW. Salt spray from the ocean beyond the rolling ranges of the Booti Booti National Park is the backdrop to this vista, with the lake and mangroves in the foreground.

A robust, brutal exterior is in stark contrast to the light filled, soft and warm interior. Openings are carved out of the pure forms to frame vistas and directly engage with the site and broader landscape.

Intimacy is restored within by the considered balance of openness to solid mass.
